Everyone Baby Collection Review

Big news, everyone. I’ve joined the Aunt club!

My first nephew was born just a few weeks ago and I couldn’t be more in love with him. I could literally sit and watch him sleep for hours. Creepy? Yes. Insanely adorable? Absolutely.

So when I heard EO Products was launching its Everyone Baby Collection in May 2016, I figured the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Their products are just the thing a conscientious parent (or obsessive Aunt) looks for when carefully choosing what to apply to their little one’s soft skin. And they’re great for adults with sensitive skin (or anyone who just wants a little bit of quality pampering!).

• Paraben-free
• Synthetic fragrance-free
• Gluten-free
• And made with organic ingredients and natural scents!

That’s a long list of a lot of good stuff, right?

The awesome team sent me their Baby Wash, Baby Lotion, and Baby Wipes to test out (retail prices listed at the end). They have two gentle, soothing scents that smell light and baby-fresh: Calming Chamomile + Lavender and Gentle Calendula + Oat.

I genuinely love both of these scents and would be hard-pressed to choose a favorite. If it was a do-or-die situation, I’d probably say I favor the Chamomile + Lavender. I usually don’t have an affinity for lavender, but in these products it’s subtle and smells like fresh meadow air, not a cloying lavender perfume.

The Baby Wash contains coconut-derived cleansers for a natural bath time. As a big fan of the properties of coconut, it’s a great selling point.

The Baby Lotion is hypoallergenic and made with nourishing and yummy things like olive oil and mango seed butter (I don’t know what that is, but it sounds kind of amazing, am I right?). I’ve included photos of the ingredients label for each of the products so you can take a longer look at what you’re putting on baby!

We have yet to test the wipes but they’ll probably be thrown into a diaper bag since they’re the perfect small size for travel. They’re also flushable and have a sticky resealable flap that you can’t see in these photos.

I would definitely suggest checking out these products for your wee one or for yourself if you like to avoid harsh chemicals in your skincare. They’re available in Whole Foods or on the EO Products website, and they’re definitely affordable (see retail prices below). They’d also make a great baby shower gift if you don’t have a bitty baby of your own to spoil!

Thank You California Scrub Co. + The Boho Socialite!

A couple weeks ago, an awesome Instagrammer I follow, @thebohosocialite, ran a giveaway with California Scrub Co.…and I won! I wanna tell you guys a bit about my experience with this giveaway because I think it’s a great testament to the awesome fashion blogging community.

First, I was super excited to win this giveaway because, let’s face it, who ever expects to win anything through an IG giveaway? My package with the California Scrub Co. body scrub came and I could tell right away that the postal service had done something baaad with the package. It was dripping oil and delivered in a plastic bag (always a good sign, right?).

I let The Boho Socialite know that the package came but the product was destroyed and I accepted it as a lost. It’s a giveaway after all, and the post office was the one that messed up. It was no big deal. To my surprise, she told me she would see if she could have a replacement scrub sent to me. The awesome people over at California Scrub Co. told me they’d have another one sent out to me and within a few days, I received another (perfect condition) scrub in the mail!

The point of my long story is that the sweetness of these fashion bloggers is real and it was awesome to see how far above and beyond both parties went in order to get the scrub to me. I want to thank both The Boho Socialite and California Scrub Co. for their kindness and after finally having been able to try out the Spicy Chai scrub they sent me, I can say I’m in love!

Lush’s Mint Julips

Yet again, I’m here to tell you how in love I am with LUSH. Now, I know what this looks like. My last two posts have been about LUSH (Pink & Butterball bath bombs), and here is yet another LUSH review. Although I would love to say that I’m a bona fide LUSH addict, the truth is that I’m much too poor and much too new to this LUSH lifestyle to call myself anything other than a n00b when it comes to everything this magical store has to offer. Nonetheless, here is my latest purchase.

Mint Julips Lip Scrub

 

 

It’s a vegan lip scrub (“A lip smacking cocktail,” the front saucily reads) in the scent Mint Julips.

Tasty mint chocolate sugar lip scrub for smooth moves and sweeter kisses.

The description, as usual, totally sells me on this product. But the product itself is effective and sweet. The directions say to “scrub and buff your lips to softness, lick off the excess then apply your favourite LUSH Lip Balm.” I would add to scrub gently, no matter how much dead skin you’re trying to get rid of. It will buff away eventually and since it’s sugar, rubbing the grains can be kind of harsh on your lips if you rub too hard.

I admit that I find myself applying this sometimes just to lick it off or for the tingles from the mint. Luckily, it’s totally safe to do, and there are enough oils in the mixture that licking my it off my lips and applying lip balm immediately after doesn’t completely dry out my lips. In a colder/drier environment, that may not be the case, however.

Ingredients: Castor Sugar, Cold Pressed Organic Castor Sugar, Cold Pressed Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis), Vanilla Extract (Vanilla planifolia), Tagetes Oil (Tagetes minuta), Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita), *Limonene, Flavour. *Occurs naturally in essential oils. (This is all according to the product label.)

Unlike some LUSH products that expire quickly, this one says it lasts 14 months.

Lush’s ‘Butterball’ Bath Bomb Review

In my last post, I talked about how I fulfilled my long overdue dream of trying out Lush products and made the prettiest pink bath (check out the link for my thoughts!). I only bought two things at Lush that day, although I could have bought so many more things, and here is the second item!

It’s described as “beautiful butter cream hydration for the skin.”

To be honest, I didn’t buy this bath bomb for its looks. If this bath bomb were a person, its appearance would be sort of a Plain Jane with mousey brown hair and acne spots, unlike the ‘Pink’ bath bomb who is likely a beauty guru with perfectly manicured nails and an IG on fleek.

But the smell of this one was UHHHHHH…UH-AMAZING. It’s probably a psychological thing because of the name, but the scent is what I imagine Butterbeer to be in bath bomb form. So all you HP nerds, holla.

Our vanilla-scented Bath Bomb is anything but boring when you lay back into a cozy white blanket of creamy, buttery froth. This little fizzer is the ultimate in comfort with chunks of creamy cocoa butter; it’s fantastic for rehydrating dry skin. Baths can dry your skin if they’re too hot, so if you’re in need of a long, lingering bath pop one of these gorgeous beauties into the tub for a vanilla custard soak to lull you into a deep relaxed state – and leave with sweeter, softer skin.

 

What this bath bomb lacks in fun colors and designs, it totally makes up for in scent and practicality. This bath bomb does what it says-it nourishes the skin leaving it feeling incredibly soft and rehydrated. The photo above proves why it has its name–when the bomb fizzed away, it left these spots of oil floating in the tub that look just like melted butter. It kind of looks like diarrhea water, let’s be real, but I can assure you that it is only similar in appearance, not smell.

After the bath bomb is done fizzing, there are a few bubbles on the surface of the water that dissipate quickly and you are just left with the ‘buttery’ water. It’s not a bath bomb that you want to get your hair in (unless you need a deep oil treatment) as I can imagine it will make your hair greasy, but my skin felt amazingly moisturized after. It was so oily that I was slipping around while laying in the tub. True story.

I enjoyed my Butterball bath with a little white wine (if I’m going to be indulgent, might as well be really indulgent) and a little YouTube for good measure.
